Three years ago, a British company that wanted to collect electricity from people on the street has teamed up with shell to come up with a more imaginative new plan: let the kickers generate their own electricity for the pitch.Brazilians love soccer, but economic woes have left many communities in distress, with many stadiums not even lit at night.So the company and shell plan to build a new stadium in Rio DE janeiro, where the kinetic energy generated by the kickers is converted into electricity to keep the stadium bright.

The company did not disclose the technical details of the plan, but the pictures suggest that they will be laying piezoelectric sensors underneath the pitch, allowing the kicker to generate electricity with each step.To make sure, a lot of solar panels are laid around the stadium.If it's just driving the lights, that should be enough.

The company says the stadium's batteries provide up to 10 hours of light on a single charge, more than enough for people to play football in the evening.

If the availability of the new stadiums is confirmed, there may be more to come in Brazil.Maybe that's one small step that will make Brazil stronger in the future.
